Norman B. Brackney, age 88 died on February 18, 2010. He has lived in Pitman for over 57 years. Norman was a Coast Guard Veteran serving during World War II from 1942-1945. He began a career in printing with McGrail Brothers in Woodbury which later became Belia and Sons. He later worked for Review Printing in Pitman and owned his own rubber stamp business. Norman was recently employed as an assistant with his son's business, Glassboro Body Shop. He was a longtime scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts and involved in the Indian Guides.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Gloria (nee Prendergast), children Joseph, Sr. (Donna) of Ventnor, NJ, Elizabeth Virnelson of Newhall, CA, brother L. Gerald (Janet) Brackney, grandchildren Joseph, Jr, Marleena (Jeff) Young, Michele Virnelson, Jason and Lyndsey Brackney, Michael (Danielle) Virnelson and great grandchild Peyton Young.
Friends may call on Tuesday 9-10:30am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral mass will be at 11am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Pitman. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memories may be shared at www.kelleyfhpitman.com.
