Obituary of William J. Owens

William J. Owens, age 90 died on July 18, 2015. Raised in Pitman, NJ, Bill lived in Egg Harbor Twp. since 1979. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a Signalman Second Class from 1944-1946. Bill was a Union Slate and Tile Roofer for many years. He also owned and operated a Sunoco Gas Station in Pitman. In 1979, when he moved to Egg Harbor, Bill worked for Bally's Casino as a Security Guard. He also was a Handiman for Colonial Meadows Campground. Bill was an exempt fireman for Pitman Fire Patrol and a member of the American Legion. Bill was the husband of the late Melba A. (nee Maiatico). Survived by his daughter Barbara Sabath, grandchildren Joseph (Elizabeth) and Rebecca Sabath, great grandchildren Petty Officer Third Class Ashley (Taylor) Dawson, Alicia Davis, Abigail Davis, Jackson Motto (his namesake), great great granddaughter Emersyn Elizabeth, siblings Doyle E. Jr. (Gail), Delores M. Yahnke), David T. (Connie), brother in law Robert Pote and many nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family on Thursday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Manahath Cemetery.
