Obituary of Michael Torowus

VIEWING AND FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT MICHAEL'S RESIDENCE, IN HIS GARAGE: 835 LONG AVE, PITMAN, NJ Michael Torowus, Jr., age 79 died peacefully on September 30, 2015 at his home in Pitman where he lived since 1960. Mike retired from South Jersey Gas Company in 1997 after 42 years of service. Well known for being an old car enthusiast, he was often seen driving his Model “A” Ford cars on the streets of Pitman. He enjoyed participating in local Parades and with the Model A Car Club. Working in his garage, and sharing his car restoration knowledge with friends was one of his favorite pass-times. He was loved and admired by his family, grandchildren, and friends. Known as Pop Pop, he lived his life as a humble gentle man who was a selfless example to many. Pre-deceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Diane D. Gligor Torowus, he is survived by his oldest son, Steve, daughter in law. Carolyn, their children, Katherine, Stephen Jr, Claire and Michael III,and his youngest son, Mark, daughter in law, Marilyn and their children, Demetria, Alexandra,and Calyncia. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 11am in Mike’s Garage, at his home, 835 Long Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 1pm. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
