Obituary of Elizabeth Parvin Kooi

Elizabeth Parvin Kooi (Betty) Born in Philadelphia, PA, Betty lived all her life in Pitman, NJ, before retiring to Dunedin, FL when her husband retired. She was a graduate of Pitman High School, '36 and Glassboro State College, '40, now known as Rowan University. She also did graduate work at Columbia University, NYC, getting her Masters Degree in Education in 1951. She was an elementary school teacher in Brooklawn, NJ for five years and in Pitman, NJ at the W.C.K. Walls Elementary School for twenty years. Betty was a charter Sunday School member and member of the United Presbyterian Church in Pitman and the Union Methodist Church in Dunedin, FL. She was also a soloist and choir director in the First Methodist Church in Camden, NJ for five years. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #57, Pitman, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Kooi, after 43 years of marriage. She is survived by two sons: Robert Kooi, of American Canyon, CA and Warren Kooi, of Naples, FL and by two daughters: Barbara Jellema, of Naples, FL and Kathy D'Ambrosia of Burgaw, NC; also two grandsons: Jeffrey Cox of Tampa, FL and David Cox of Greensboro, NC and two granddaughters: Katie Bartojay of Conifer, CO and Jaclyn Teravainen of Escondido, CA; also two great-grandsons: Max Bartojay of Conifer, CO and Joseph Teravainen of Escondido, CA and one great-grandaughter, Samantha Teravainen of Escondido, CA. Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hurffville, NJ on Saturday, October 1.
