Anthony F. Mecca, Sr., age 85, of Pitman, died peacefully on June 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Camden, NJ in 1931, Tony graduated from Camden Catholic High School in 1949, and was also a graduate of the Spring Garden Institute, in Philadelphia. Tony served in the Naval Reserves. He worked for Owens Illinois, in Glassboro, as a Mechanical Engineer. After retirement, Tony continued working as a Real Estate Agent. He married Anna Marie (nee Rapa) in 1961 and raised their family in Pitman. Tony loved to cook and coach wrestling and soccer. He played many instruments, including his favorite, the piano. He also enjoyed singing. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was the loving husband of Anna Marie, for 55 years. Devoted father of Marie (Nigel) Raithby, Lisa (Charles) Daywalt, Anthony Jr., Christina (Dale) Fennell, and loving grandfather of Chelsea and Trevor Raithby, Hannah Fennell, and Anthony Mecca III. He was brother to Mary Cuneo and Dolores Bendorf. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Leonard Mecca, and siblings Ursula, Leonard, Rose, Austin, and Ann. We would like to thank the many caregivers, friends and family, especially Kimberly Renee Rishel who brought much joy to Tony's life.
