Obituary of Elizabeth M. McLeer

Elizabeth "May" McLeer (nee Mattison), age 91, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on September 15. May was born May 1, 1926 to John W. and Elizabeth (nee Chick) Mattison Sr., in Philadelphia, PA. May is survived by her nine children; Peggy Zycinsky, Betty Devlin, Kay (Steve) Karwacki, Gene (Sue) McLeer, Patty Beechler, Dottie McLeer, T.J. (Roxanne) McLeer, Bob (Kathy) McLeer, and Greg (Kim) McLeer, her sister Velma (Eles) Barnes, and brother-in-law Joseph McLeer. May is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. May was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Deacon Eugene McLeer, Sr., her brothers Jack, Charles, Robert, sister Margaret Wynne, and her sons-in-law Bill Zycinsky, Jr., Jim Devlin Sr., Martin "Butch" Beechler, and Richard Bobbins. May was active in the Boys club in Mantua, NJ, and the Senior Center on Greentree Road in Washington Township. May enjoyed traveling with her husband Gene, cooking, baking, going to the casinos, and being with her family. May had such a full life of love and dedication to family and friends, faith, compassion, humility, and giving. May always said that her greatest asset was her family, who will now miss her terribly and cherish all our memories with her. We can only hope to follow in her footsteps. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 9am to 10:15am at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 500 Greentree Road, Glassboro, NJ. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
