Obituary of Carl Ahrens

Carl Gustave Ahrens, age 90 of Pitman, died on November 30, 2017. Carl attended Swedesboro High School. He served in the US Coast Guard during World War II from 1945-1946. Carl was a Gold Seal Stationary Engineer for Hercules Powder Company in Gibbstown, retiring in 1989 after 34 years. He was a member of the Pitman United Methodist Church where he served as greeter. Carl was treasurer for John Hunt's Campaign and cofounder of Wil-O-Dell Lake Beach Club in Mickleton, NJ. He enjoyed over 32 years of fishing, boating and swimming in the lagoon at their home in Ocean City.

Survived by his wife of 70 years, Elva (nee Shiles), sons Robert C. (Linda) , Gary R. (Kathy), sistersDora McIntosh, Shirley Schofield, grandchildren Michael (Heather), Steven (Kate), Lauren (Benjamin) Grotte, Christopher, Mark and great grandchildren Tyler, Blake, Cora, Everly, Grayson, Jacob, Ella and Jackson.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday 9-10:45am in the Chapel of the Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 N. Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral service will be at 11am.
