Obituary of John Eric Mecouch

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Eric Mecouch, 53, of PItman died peacefully in his sleep on May 16, 2015 after a courageous battle against scleroderma. Johnny lived in Pitman his whole life and attended Pitman High School. He was also an Army veteran. Johnny worked at Crown Pipeline as an 825 Operating Engineer. He was the best at his job and will be very difficult to replace. He could operate anything and his specialty was the excavator. He never missed a day of work. In fact, his doctors were amazed he was still working. He was a hard worker and on his last day of work he opened up 1,500 ft. of trench. He had previously worked at Bowman's. Johnny was well versed in many areas. He could easily discuss (or argue) many subjects including the Bible, world history, politics, current events, and cars. He especially enjoyed Mopar cars. Johnny liked music and loved to dance. He was also a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and an animal lover. Johnny was a tough guy with a big heart. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and his workplace. Johnny could joke and tell a story like no other. His laugh was contagious. Our lives will never be the same and he will be missed forever by those who loved him. Johnny was predeceased by his wife Cherie Mecouch and his parents Marge and Dale Mecouch and brother in law Kenny Turner. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Diane (Logan) Mecouch. His devoted daughters, Erica (Brian Wooten), and Paige, stepchildren Jim (Shannon), Lisa (Tom), and Bobby (Niki), sisters Holly and Gail, brothers Mac, Doug, Harry, Thomas (Stephanie), Lemuel (Kelly), Dale (Netta) and many nieces and nephews, and a close circle of friends. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071. Viewing will be 9-11am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. In so inclined, donations in Johnny's name may be made to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312.
