Obituary of Norma Joy Kelley

Norma Joy Kelley (nee Veith), age 91 years, died April 20 at Cardinal Village, Sewell, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, she graduated from Pitman High School in 1944, and Ursinus College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. After college, she worked for the Quartermaster in Philadelphia. She married John R. Kelley Jr. "Jack" in 1949 and they founded the Kelley Funeral Home in Pitman, NJ in 1952. She worked for the Funeral Home until his death in 1989. She was a longtime faithful member of the Pitman United Methodist Church. She worked in the Church nursery from 1952 until 2008. She was active in the United Methodist Women and her beloved Circle Group, the Wesleyannes. In 2015, she received the UMW recognition pin for her work in the church. Norma helped start the senior program called the Elderberries at the church. She was a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to many different Bridge and Pinochle card groups. Norma loved Cape May and spent many summers on the "Norma J", the boat she and Jack owned, with their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Jack, and grandson Kevin R. Seal. She is survived by her children, Diane Kelley, Suzanne Homberg, Ray (Patti) Kelley, Brian Kelley, Dr. Douglas Kelley, and daughter in law Monica Kelley. Also survived by her grandchildren; David Seal, Ryan (Sarah) Kelley, Kelley (Alex) Urankar, Schuyler Kelley, Matthew Homberg, LeeAnn Kelley, Jackie Homberg, Brian and Brendan Kelley, great grandchildren; Daniel, Oliver, and Michael Urankar, Jane and Anna Kelley. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and 10-11AM on Thursday in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ. Funeral service at 11AM.
