Obituary of Bruce Ware

Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bruce Ware, 73, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Tuesday, August 28. He was predeceased by his parents, Wellford & Peggy Ware. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dr. Barbara Ware and his three children: Brett (Nicole) Ware of Savannah, GA; Alyssa (David) LaForce of Redondo Beach, CA; Bruce Douglas of Eugene, OR, his special fishing buddy, his grandson, Jacob LaForce, his brothers Jeff (Helen) Ware, Jack Ware and four nephews and two nieces and their families. Bruce was born September 18, 1944 in Woodbury to Wellford and Peggy Ware. Bruce grew up in Pitman. Bruce was the owner of Moore's Liquor Store and the Mayor of Pitman from 1994 - 2002. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged as a Captain of the United Stated Marine Corps. Bruce received his undergraduate degree in theater at University of Arizona. He received his MBA and completed his education at the U of MD, receiving his JD, as did his father and grandfather. Bruce was a man of many hats but did nothing but the best at every single position he held, husband, father, grandad, brother, uncle, friend, business man, US Marine, Councilman and Mayor. Bruce's favorite activity was fishing A lot of people that passed by Moore's would also catch a glimpse of a man fly fishing for cow patties. That was Bruce. Even without water Bruce still needed his fishing time if just to practice. Fishing was one of the reasons he loved living in NH where he spent hours fishing in the local ponds. When he moved to Delaware he was able to surf fish almost every day and fish off of his house balcony at any time. It was quite the retirement life. Bruce was an avid reader, rarely would you find him without a book under his arm or by his side. He also loved everything about his time in Pitman NJ. He proudly served Pitman as a Councilman for 21 years and then his 3 terms as Mayor of Pitman. A man above men. Bruce had a pragmatic bipartisan answer for everything. He gave the most truthful amazing advice to anyone that would ask. His knowledge was endless. He had an undying generosity towards his community, friends and especially family. The end of his life was a summer joyfully spent with his beloved grandson, Jacob. His memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31st at KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ, visitation to begin at 6PM and service to follow at 8PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's at www.michaeljfox.org.
