Obituary of Gene P. Shoemaker

Gene "Beanie" Shoemaker, 71, of Pitman, NJ passed away peacefully on September 11. Bean lived in Pitman his entire life and continuously gave back to his community. He loved Pitman and was truly one of a kind. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan (Linn); his children Shannon Harbison (Mike) of Pitman, Gene Jr. (Crystal) Shoemaker of Summerville, SC, Cale Shoemaker (Isadora) of San Diego, CA, Ken Baldwin Jr. of Pitman and Missy Baldwin (Jake) of Pitman; his grandchildren Gene III, Kenny III, Paige and Mason; and his brother Robert Jr. of Pitman. Bean graduated from Pitman High School in 1965 and then attended Salem University in West Virginia where he was a member of the Omega (TKE) fraternity. In his retirement years, Bean worked at the Pitman Golf Course. He was a life member of Pitman Fire Company #1, serving as past president and assistant chief, president of the Pitman Athletic Association, and was elected to Pitman Council three times.
