Obituary of Helyn B. Murray

Helyn B. Murray, 99, of Pitman, passed away peacefully on May 10th at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury with her son-in-law by her side. She spent the last two years of her life at Mullica Gardens, under the care of the wonderful professionals there. Born November 14, 1919 to Eugene and Elsie May Brown in Pitman, Helyn graduated from Pitman High School and then resided for most of her adult life in Pennsylvania with her husband Bob and children Barbara and Bobby. She is predeceased by brother Rulon Brown, first husband Robert Smith, daughter Barbara (Smith) Olderman, son Robert Smith, and second husband George Murray. She is survived by her son-in-law Michael Olderman; grandchildren Jeffrey Olderman (Tara), Meredith Gibson (Russell), Kate Tavella (Robert); great grandchildren Max and Carter Olderman, Lane Gibson, and James and Jillian Tavella; and George’s daughters Patricia Murray and Eileen Murray. Helyn will be remembered for her deep love and commitment to her family who brought her great joy and a deep sense of pride, her witty sense of humor, impeccable taste in beauty and fashion, and overall zest for life. Memorial services will be private.
