Beatrice "Bea" Swartz (nee Orr), age 96 of Pitman, NJ died on July 16, 2019 at her home in Pitman. She was the wife of the late Fred E. Swartz. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Bea lived most of her life in Pitman, NJ. She graduated from Pitman High School, Class of 1940 where she was Secretary of the class. Bea graduated from Pierce Business College. She was a member of the Song Spinners and a soloist at the First Church of Christ Scientist for 28 years. Bea served as President of the PTA at the Walls School and Pitman High School.
She was Secretary to the President of Glassboro State College (Rowan University) and retired in 1992. She was also Secretary for the Hollybush Restoration Committee. Bea was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Glassboro, where she sang in the Chancel Choir and arranged for special music at the 8:30am service for over 20 years. She was a member of the Women's Club of Pitman and served on various committees. She loved playing cards, going to concerts and reading.
Bea is survived by her two sons Fred (Connie) and Herbert (Patricia) and granddaughters Kristen, Stacey and Valerie.
Friends may greet the family after 10am on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the First United Methodist Church of Glassboro, 61 Academy St, Glassboro, NJ. Memorial service will be at 11am.
