Dolores Anna Hobson 10/25/1931 – 5/27/2020 Dolores A. Hobson, (nee Lovett) of Glassboro, NJ went to her rest peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 27, 2020 after an eighteen month battle with an extremely rare form of cancer. Foregoing excisional surgery, chemotherapy and radiation she chose quality of life vs quantity. She was 88. Dolores was the eldest daughter of Frederick and Frances Lovett and was a 1949 graduate of Kensington High School in Philadelphia. She went on to earn her nursing degree in 1952 from Northeastern Hospital School of Nursing and Temple University School of Medicine. Dolores was a medical professional who dedicated her life to serving others. Nurse Hobson stayed at Northeastern after graduation, working in the OR and teaching surgical technique to nursing students. In 1956 she moved to Dayton, Ohio, then returned to Philadelphia the following year with her newborn son, Donald Jr. Shortly thereafter, son Fred and daughter Sandy were born. As a single parent after a divorce, Dolores knew she needed a flexible job to allow her to raise her children. In 1962 she accepted a nursing position at Temple University School of Dentistry, where she cared for professional medical, pharmacy, physical therapy, and dental students for the next thirty years. Dolores always wanted to take care of others and make them better. The lives of literally thousands of people were positively impacted by Dolores' medical skill and her compassion. For all of her professional success, her most fulfilling accomplishment was being a Mother. For her, family was everything. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than hosting family get-togethers and holiday celebrations, and attending every school and sporting event of her children. She loved Frank Sinatra and you could find her listening to "Fridays with Frank" and "Sundays with Sinatra". She enjoyed spending time at her shore house in Cape May, NJ, and she also enjoyed vacations to Bermuda and Hawaii, which remained cherished memories. Dolores is the loving Mother of Donald Jr., who predeceased her, Frederick (Karen), and Sandra Gottwald (Arthur), and cherished sister of Frances Weyhmuller (George). As per her request, her remains will be cremated and held until the Covid-19 restrictions allow for a Mass of Christian Burial. Dolores lived her life as the "Lady with the Lamp". "She is a "ministering angel" without any exaggeration in these hospitals, and as her slender form glides quietly along every corridor, every poor fellow's face softens with gratitude at the sight of her. When all the medical officers have retired for the night and silence and darkness have settled down upon those miles of prostrate sick, she may be observed alone, with a little lamp in her hand, making her solitary rounds".
