Evelyn M. Benton (nee Anderson), age 87 years, died June 25 at Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was employed as a machine operator for Ecko in Clayton, NJ. She loved camping at the Tall Pines Campground in Elmer, and the Village Dock in Franklinville. A fan of Elvis and Betty Boop, she enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and she was an avid shuffleboard player, winning many trophies. Predeceased by her husband, William J. Benton Jr., and her son William J. III. She was the daughter of Carrie (Artley) and Edwin Anderson.
Survived by her children; Evelyn (Mark) Shipley, Alberta (George) Foster, Ray (Natalie) Benton, and Vicki (Michael) Hiddemen, 11 grandchildren, including Joseph, who lived with and took care of her for 5 years, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Also survived by her siblings; Anna Viola, Donald and Leroy Anderson, and Gloria Oplinger. She also has many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
