Raymond Wayne Groff (GWhiz), age 85, died on October 3, 2020 peacefully in his Ocean City home surrounded by loved ones. Wayne lived in Pitman most of his life and married his high school sweetheart, Beth.
He was a graduate of Delaware Valley College of Agriculture where he received a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture. He founded Groff's Mill Pond Nursery in 1959 where he developed a nursery, garden center and landscape service. He focused on his art of landscape design in South Jersey. He operated the business with his wife until his retirement in 1996. The business is now operated by his son Raymond Wayne Groff, Jr. Wayne led an active life and was an avid sportsman and traveler that enjoyed riding his motorcycle and corvettes, fishing, skiing,
summers in Ocean City. Wayne was a member of NJ Nursery and Landscape Association, Master Mason, member of the South Jersey retreads for many years and also a member of the Pitman United Methodist Church.
Survived by his children Kimberly Ann, Julie Ann Ford, Raymond Wayne Jr., Amanda Beth Kantor and grandchildren Samuel Hugh Ford, Annie Elizabeth Ford, Allyson Marie Jones, Matthew Raymond Groff, Molly Claire Ford, Natalie Elizabeth McMillan, Taylor Anne Groff, Shannon Lee McMillan and Hannah Lee Kantor.
