Obituary of Ronald W. Griffith

Ronald W. Griffith, age 83, died on January 17, 2022. Ron was a longtime resident of Pitman, NJ. Ron served in the US Coast Guard from 1956-1960. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Glassboro State College. He started his career teaching in the Washington Twp. School System, eventually becoming a Guidance Counselor. Ron retired after 35 years. He also worked for the Kelley Funeral Home, driving hearses for various funeral homes in South Jersey. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pitman where he served as an Elder. He was also an Elder with Stephen Ministry. During retirement, Ron became very involved with Habitat for Humanity serving as President of the Gloucester County Chapter. He also volunteered delivering for Meals on Wheels and working at the Pitman Food Pantry. Ron and his wife Barbara, purchased an RV and enjoyed traveling the United States and vacationing in Maine. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Noel), children Linda (Todd) Leach, Mark (Lorraine) Griffith, grandchildren Nadia and Vinodhini Leach, sister Carla (Ray Sr.) Fordyce, nephews Ray Jr. (Lina) Fordyce, Jim (Christine) Fordyce and niece Wendy (Victor) Nage. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 9:30-11am at the Fist Presbyterian Church, 10 Wildwood Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity at www.gc-habitat.org. Memories may be shared at www.kelleyfhpitman.com.
