Obituary of Betty Ann Dotts

Please share a memory of Betty Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Ann (Bet)] Dotts, nee Grieshaber, 87, of Glassboro, NJ, passed away on January 23, 2022 in Glassboro, New Jersey. Betty was born in Philadelphia to Kina and Albert Grieshaber on 10/19/34. After high school Betty got married and started a family. Betty liked doing things for herself and not depending on others. What Betty mostly will be remembered for is her great sense of humor, always making you laugh. Betty had style, always looked great with her perfectly done hair, make-up and jewelry. She could make wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants look like she stepped out of a fashion magazine. Many people will remember Betty for her ability to speak her mind, but mostly for the way she loved her family, and her friends. She showed this often by chauffeuring her friend's kids from school to soccer games or cheerleading and rooting for their teams. She often would bring them home when their parents needed help, make them do homework and give them a snack. Of course, the kids paid a price, they had to listen to her beloved county music while driving. Many, many times you would here people say, "we need a Betty". She did so much for so many. As fierce as she could be when needed, she also had a gentle side that just made you love her. People loved to talk with her, expose themselves to her in a way they would not normally do. Part of that was her ability to ask questions about yourself, that you would not answer for others, but more than willing to tell Betty. Then there was her work ethic! She had a work ethic that we could all admire. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 40 years doing payroll and accounts payable and receivable, sometimes holding parttime work at night which included being a switchboard operator at Macy's in Cherry Hill and at a Chiropractors office. Some of the places Betty worked as a bookkeeper was Sears and Roebuck on the Boulevard in North East Philadelphia. After moving to Willingboro, NJ in 1973 she worked at Pepsi in Pennsauken, Predco in Pennsauken and Riverside Installations Riverside, NJ. Her last fulltime bookkeeping position was at Marty Sussman Egg Harbor Twp. NJ. After retiring from Marty Sussman, Betty stayed at home for 6 years to help raise her best friend's daughter Agnes, one of her many Great Grandchildren. When she found she had more time on her hands, Betty decided she wanted to be more productive with her time and became an employee a St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic School in Clayton NJ (now St. Michaels) and stayed for 14 years until she was 78. She started there as a volunteer at the age of 64. They asked for a grandparent to volunteer to sit most of the day in the classroom to help one of the children, and Betty was the first to volunteer. When that was no longer needed, Betty volunteered in the office 5 days a week for most of her years there, then in her mid- 70's 3 days a week in the office, but still maintained 5 days working in the afterschool program from 2:30 to 5 or 6pm. The school could always depend on Betty to be there whenever needed. In some of her last years at the school, there was a need for a before school program and Betty volunteered. She woke at 5am to get her style on, have breakfast and be at school by 6:45 am to greet her little ones. When the bell rang, she made her way to the office to start what would be a long day for most, but an average for Betty. Betty is survived by her children, daughter Bettylou Kerrigan (Charles) of New Ringgold, Pa., Harry J. Carsley (Carol) Summerville, SC, Craig Carsley Mt. Holly, NJ, Donna Marie Santone (Joseph) Nashua, NH, Brian Dotts (Sandy) of West Berlin, NJ, and Duane Dotts, and her best and long-time family friend Agnes Wilson. Betty is also survived by her sixteen (16) grandchildren, Shawn Carsley, Harry Kemps, Angela Kerrigan, Kimberly Fields, Tiffany Husser, Adam Carsley, Justin Carsley, Francis Rahill, Heather Brabazon, Michael Brabazon, Jared Dotts, Melanie Nason, Jason Dotts, Emily Bednarczyk, Joshua Dotts, Ethan Dotts. Betty is also survived by thirty-two (32) Great Grandchildren and one (1) Great Great Grandson. Last but not least, she will be missed by her constant companion and protector, Hogan, a.k.a. Hogy. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy Dotts and Harry Carsley, her parents Kina and Albert Grieshaber and a brother killed in WWll, Joseph Smith Grieshaber. Funeral service will be held at Kelley Funeral Home. Visitation will be on January 27 at 6 – 8:30PM. Funeral Services January 28, 2022 at 10-11 and services starting at 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to GBS-CIDP Foundation, 375 E. Elm St, Ste. 101, Conshohoken, PA 19428, Conquer Cancer Foundation 2318 Mill Rd.
