Obituary of Ruth V. Powell

Ruth Vera Lentz Powell, age 93 (March 6) died at the Pitman Manor surrounded by her family on February 13, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased in 2005 by her husband of 59 years Samuel Chew Powell, Jr. Survived by her daughters Mary Lou Pierce, Eileen Salmon, sons Sam (Kim), Doug (Melaney), 11 grandchildren who loved their Nannie very much, Ruthie, Richie, Rachael and Becky Pierce, Dick (Jen), Neil (Erica) Salmon, Beth (Tim) Perseghetti, Matt (deceased) Brittney, Grayson and Jackson Powell and great grandchildren Luke, Piper, Holly, Grace and Charlotte Salmon, Miles and Crosby Perseghetti, Tanner Wible and Declan Powell-Edmunds and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member of the Pitman United Methodist Church and was in the Emily Johnson Sunday School Class. She was known for making her famous iced tea and grilled cheese sandwiches. She was an avid Philadelphia Sports Fan but her greatest joy was cheering on her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events. Ruth also enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach with her family. Friends may greet the family after 9:30am on Thursday in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ.
