Obituary of William Edward Starkey

William E. Starkey of Glassboro, NJ, passed away on March 2, 2022, at the age of 78, surrounded by his beloved children. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Ann Starkey, and his sons, Christopher and Kenneth Starkey, grandchildren, Robert, Anderson, Gabriella, and Audra Starkey. Also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lydia and Edward Wagus, his brothers, David and Thomas Starkey, his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pillo, his brother-in-law, Dominic Balsama, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucille Starkey, parents, William and Marie Starkey, grandparents, William Harry and Lydia Troutman, parents-in-law, Michael and Edith Pillo, his aunt and uncle, Margaret and George Nixon, his sister, Catherine Troutman, his sisters-in-law, Teresa Procacci and Joan Balsama, and his brothers-in-law, Michael and Ronald Pillo, and Joseph Procacci. William was raised in Cumberland, MD, and graduated from Fort Hill High School. He married his beloved wife in 1965 and they were married for 47 years at the time of her death in 2012. They raised their family in Glassboro, NJ. He worked as a pipefitter through Local 420 in Philadelphia until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Master Chief before retiring. His last billet was with RNCB21 in Lakehurst, NJ. He was a Past National President (2017-2018) of the Fleet Reserve Association and was a member of Branch 57 South Jersey "The Friendly Branch". He was a 4th Degree Sir Knight and member of St. John Neumann Council #7032, and Archbishop C.J. Damiano Assembly #1626. He was a Eucharistic Minister and proud parishioner at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7PM to 9PM in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Visitation on Thursday from 9AM to 9:45AM at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 500 Greentree Rd., Glassboro, NJ. Funeral Mass 10AM. Interment Gloucester Co.
