Why did I chance a "google" to find my old friend "Howell"? So sad that I missed a chance to say good bye. There were three young high school boys who hung out together....Dee (Daniel) Thomas, Howell Hunt and Bob Grubbs (me). Howell was an only
child so he was special to us (and we to him). I remember well his house was a special treat to visit. There was a sunroom that his mother loved. It had a small pool and fountain. But the best was the living room. Both Howell and I played the piano. AND Howell had a grand piano. The living room as I remember it had a "stage" type of rised floor on the front of the house where the piano was featured.
We always entered at the side or rear of the house. Passing the Dining Room, Howell would show us the "call buzzer" under the head of the dining room table to have a server respond. The garage has a vague memory of a (now) antique automobile like a Ford Model T that was in pristine condition and not used.
So much for memories. I am now 95. Audubon High Grad with Dee and Howell 1944. I served in the Army Air Force. Graduated from Univ. of Delaware where I met my wife. Married in 1951. Have two sons. Both graduated as Engineers from Purdue Univ. and went on to graduate from Jefferson Medical Univ. with specialties in Cancer and Heart. I am now a widower of two years. I live in a Health Center in Greenville, DE just outside Wilmington. I have a progressive lung disease that is taking its toll.
But, I just wanted to add some wonderful memories of three young high school buddies that will all pass away soon.

My condolences to Russell’s family. My Dad, Al Cordero, was a friend of Russell’s at Pitman Manor. Be it watching an Eagles game, playing “name that tune” every night, or enjoying their meals together, I’ll always be grateful they were friends. I’m sure they’ve reconnected and are sharing good times again. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

From friends and family at the manor,
My mom, Cleo moved in spring 2019. She found out about the “ name that tune” organ playing event and joyfully attended Russ’s playing at 7 pm as often as possible. She would share all the songs she knew the name for and how nice Russ was to play for all of them. I wish she had known about the Wallenpaupack connection as she had a house there since 1965 and stayed every summer there.
Please know he is already missed and she, we; will forever be grateful for his playing and sharing of his talent.
Sending our love and sorrow.

Dr. Russell Hunt will be greatly missed here at Pitman Manor. What a kind and talented man. The residents will especially miss his organ playing. They looked forward to that every week. God Bless You and Your Family.
