Richard Samuel "Dick" Subber passed away on June 17, 2022, in Pitman, NJ. Dick was a World War II veteran and served in Company B, 310th Signal Operation Battalion as a radio operator and high-speed telegrapher at the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was in Belgium and then Germany during the final months of the war in Europe. After VE Day, he returned to Philadelphia and married his sweetheart, Jean, in July 1945 (Jean [nee Gallagher] passed away in 2018 just prior to their 73rd anniversary). They moved to Blackwood Terrace (now Deptford) in 1951, where they stayed until moving to UMC Pitman in June 2014. Dick was a letter carrier for the USPS until 1986. He fulfilled a life-long dream and qualified as a light plane pilot. Dick was a proud and an active Mason for more than 50 years. He was the Past Master of Mozart Lodge, elevated to the 33rd Degree by the Excelsior Consistory ASSR, active in High Twelve, and an active Brother Mason in many Masonic fraternities. Dick had been an avid volunteer with VITAS and at Kennedy Health in Washington Township. In his own words, Dick was "just another guy that does his job." He is survived by his children, Rick, Ron (and wife, Martha), and Jan (Kovarik); his grandchildren, Cathy, Amy, and Adam; and his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Winnie, Wyatt, Atticus, and Phoebe. Services will be private, as Dick requested.
