Obituary of John A. Kuhn

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John A. Kuhn–beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many–passed away on November 20, 2022 at the age of 80 after suffering a stroke a month earlier. John was born on May 21, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD to J. Joseph and Mary (Ainsworth) Kuhn. He grew up in a close-knit family in Carneys Point, NJ, and graduated from St. James High School in 1960, where he met the love of his life, Carole (née Baner). John and Carole married in 1965 and settled in Pitman, NJ in 1967, where they raised 4 children. John enjoyed a long career at the Burroughs/Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell, PA, where he traveled across the country installing mainframe computers. He "retired" in 1991, but was never at rest, continuing to pursue many hobbies and interests, most notably his love for cars. Driving cars, working on cars, talking about cars, and restoring cars, was a life-long passion for John, and he pursued this interest to the fullest in his retirement. He was a fixture at local car shows, where he made many friends and loved showing off his prized classic cars. John was happiest when bringing people together. John and Carole's home was the site of weekly family dinners where food, stories, and laughter were all freely shared, and there was always room around the table for one more. His neighbor remarked, "John was always making and building, but the best thing he ever made was his family." John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carole; children Joanne Kuhn, John Kuhn (Sinéad Farrell), Christine Lenentine, and Jill Sexton (Will); grandchildren Stephen Lenentine (Alexis), Jeffrey Lenentine (Jennilee), William Lenentine, and Charlie Sexton; sisters Anna Hewett (Allan) and Catherine Magee (James); and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Kuhn (Lorraine). Friends may greet the family on Monday 9am-10:15am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish), Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital. John would also have encouraged you to spend time gathered around the table with your loved ones in his memory. Memories may be shared at www.kelleyfhpitman.com.
