Charles Nelson Brown, age 84 died on November 5, 2006 at Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born and raised in Williamstown, he lived in Pitman for the past 60 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 34th Infantry Division from 1943-1945 in Europe and Africa. He worked for the County of Gloucester as a Supervisor for the Highway Dept. Charles was a member of Pitman Fire Co. #1 for 59 years where he had served as Asst. and Chief. He was a charter member of the Pitman Ambulance Assn and served as Deputy of Emergency Management for Pitman and Gloucester County. He was a member of the Williamstown Lodge #166 F&AM and member and former trustee of the Pitman United Methodist Church. Charles was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed greatly by his wife of 60 years Pearl H. (nee Hartman); daughters Norma J. (William D.) Shropshire of Cape May Court House; NJ, Brenda J. (Garland G.) Warren of New Milford, CT; grandchildren Alyssa J. and William C. Shropshire, Matthew A. and Christopher S. Warren; and brothers Finlay and Herman Brown of Williamstown. He was predeceased by his brother Norman and sister Bernie. Friends may call on Wednesday after 6pm and Thursday after 10am at the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11am. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
