John Raymond Pedicord, age 87 years, of Pitman, NJ died January 27 at Manor Care in West Deptford, NJ. Born in Caraopolis, PA, he moved to Pitman in 1925 and graduated from Pitman High School in 1938. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1940-1945. He fought in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded two Silver Stars and a Purple Heart. He was retired from the Pitman Post Office and the Pitman Manor. He was a founding member of the Original Hobo Band, and belonged to the Silverstones Orchestra, and the Tommy Darrow Orchestra, playing clarinet for all three bands. He was an Elder Emeritus of the Faith Alliance Church, Sewell, NJ. He also belonged to the Elwood Kindle Post #49 of the American Legion and VFW Post #6469, both in Pitman. Predeceased by his wife Lorraine Dolly (nee Sharp) Survived by his wife Helen Mae (nee Edwards), children James (Eline) Pedicord of Houston, TX, Bonnie (Stephen) Mikes of Miami, FL, Gary (Donna) Pedicord and Janis (Jay) Ent, both of Pitman, grandchildren Aline Wilson, Virginia Pedicord, Kira Mikes, Christopher Pedicord and Margaret Ent, great grandchildren Katelyn and Kennedy Wilson, and sister Leola Upton of Placerville, CA. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 9pm and Thursday from 10 11am in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service at 11am. Interment Bethel Cemetery.
