Louis Bud G. Yahnke, III age 59 died on May 6, 2007 at University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Born in Woodbury, he lived in Pitman all his life. He was a graduate of Pitman High School in 1966 and was inducted into the Pitman Sports Hall of Fame with his football team. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Glassboro State College and his Master's from Antioch University. Bud was a teacher for 29 years and in Administration for 12 years at Washington Twp. High School, retiring in 2004. During his career he was a Supervisor for Special Education and had a passion for children with special needs. He was an instructor under the Job Training Partnership Act and received the prestigious Star Award, because of this, he received a citation from NJ General Assembly. He was an adjunct professor at Rowan University, Rutgers University in Camden, Gloucester Co. College and Atlantic Co. College. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pitman, where he participated in the Brotherhood of St. Andrew's, and a past member of the Vestry. He was a member of the Republican Executive Committee in Pitman. He coached basketball at Pitman and Washington Twp High Schools and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife Grace D. (nee Dike), daughters Jennifer (Jeff) Shalaway of Pitman, Laura (Christopher) Manganello of Williamstown, brother Willard Yahnke, sister Sally Lou Berwick both of Pitman and grandchildren Zachary and Madison Shalaway, Alexander, Jacob and Joshua Manganello. Friends may call on Friday from 10am 2pm in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 315 Highland Terrace, Pitman 08071. Requiem Eucharist 2pm. Interment Manahath Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd at the above address.
