The Honorable Robert Ellis Francis, J.S.C., retired, age 65 years, of Pitman, NJ, died April 24 at Underwood Mem. Hospital in Woodbury, NJ. Born in Camden, he had lived in Pitman most of his life and was a graduate of Pitman High School in 1960. He graduated from the Univ. of Delaware in 1964 and Rutgers Law School in Camden in 1967. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1967-70, and was a partner in the law firm of Porch and Francis in Pitman from 1970-78. He was Asst. Glouc. Co. Prosecutor and Solicitor for many communities in Glouc. Co.. He served as Franklin Twp. Municipal Judge in 1977 and State Superior Court Judge from 1978 2003. He was an Adjunct Professor at Widener Law School in Delaware from 2003-2008. He was a member of the Glouc. Co. Bar Assoc, the American Bar Assoc., and a Fellows of the American Bar. He served on the Board of Directors for YMCA Camp Ockanickon for 17 years and was a past president. Survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret L. Peggy (nee Kirkbride), daughters Carolyn (Paul) Boerner of Mantua, Amy (James) White of Mullica Hill, grandsons Sean White, Jared, Derek and Andrew Boerner, cousins Diane Prendergast of Woodbury and Lynn Wall of Franklinville. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 9 to 10:45 AM in the Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 Broadway, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service at 11 AM. Interment private.
