Obituary of Joan Lorraine Feathers

Joan H. Feathers (née Joan Lorraine Hutton), 82, passed away in her Pitman home on Thursday, January 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born November 27, 1934 in Camden, NJ, she was the youngest of four children born to Joseph William and Lillie (née Millar) Hutton. Always the adventurer, she lived in California, Wyoming, New York, and Florida before returning to the Delaware Valley in the mid 1960s. Joan worked for a number of years as a registered nurse before retiring with her husband to their shore home in Strathmere, NJ, where they enjoyed boating, dining out, and dancing late into the night. Predeceased by her husband, James R. Feathers, Sr. (1930-2012), and daughter, Sherri Lyn Allen (1958-1975), she is survived by her brother Robert John Hutton of Canton, NJ, sons Richard F. Allen, Jr. of Vevay, IN, Robert John Allen Sr. of Houston, TX, and Gary Galván of Philadelphia, PA, her stepson James R. Feathers, Jr. of Christiana, PA, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave., Pitman, NJ on Saturday, January 21, with services at 3:30 p.m. Interment private.
