Carmen Visalli, 84, died unexpectedly on June 10, 2017. Born in Swedesboro, Carmen was a 1951 graduate of Woodstown High School. Carmen passionately owned and operated Scattered Acres Farm in Elk Township, NJ since 1959. Carmen was very proud that he was an early adopter to preserve the family farm in 1999. Active in politics, he served as Mayor and Councilman for Elk Township for 12 years, as well as serving on the Elk Township Planning and Zoning, and Gloucester County Agriculture Development Board for over forty years. Proudly, Carmen was honored as Gloucester County Farmer of the Year. In addition to farming, Carmen was also an adored bus driver for Elk Township Schools, Delsea Regional High School, and was even a real estate agent. Carmen was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Clayton, NJ. A marksman, Carmen was a lifetime member of the NRA, president of the Eagle Point Gun Club, Quinton Gun Club and a member of the Elmer-Pole Tavern Rotary Club. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years Mary (nee Dillon), children Carmen, Jr., Deborah (David) Piccirillo, James (Kellie), grandchildren Steven and Anthony Piccirillo, Sarah (Jason) Ruczynski, Nicholas, Michael and Madison Visalli, great grandchildren Aliyah and Gracie Ruczynski, brother Joseph (Gracie), sister Alfina "Toots" (John) Redkoles and sister in law Barbara Visalli. He was predeceased by his siblings Nancy (Michael) Micklasavage and Samuel Visalli. Carmen was extremely proud of his family which he had great pride in. He was often leaned on by many and used his common sense and great mentoring role to guide many. As a well-known leader, family man, and role model he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Pop, you earned your life and you certainly earned your rest in heaven. Friends may greet the family on Thursday 6-9pm and Friday 9:30-10:45 followed by a funeral mass at 11am in St. Michael the Archangel (St. Catherine's of Siena), 700 Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ.
