Obituary of Silas Sottile

Silas Sottile, age 88 went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2013. Born in Messina, Italy, Silas came to the United States when he was 18 months old. He lived in Glassboro over 70 years and has lived in Washington Twp. for the past 12 years. Silas worked for Owens Illinois in Glassboro for 42 years, retiring in 1987. In 1928, his family was one of the founding families of Calvary Hill Church and held the first prayer meeting in their home on Poplar Street in Glassboro. Silas remained active member of the church where he served on the Board and taught Sunday School. Survived by his wife of 61 years Jessie (nee Corapi), sons David Sr. (Ruthann), Daniel (Deborah), Robert (Deborah), brother Dominick, grandchildren David Jr., Derek, Daniel Jr., Anna Marie, Joseph Silas, Anthony, Robert, Nicholas, Alexandra and great grandchildren David III, Sofia, Noah, Santino and Salvatore. Predeceased by his parents Mariano and Mary Sottile and sister Josephine Flamma. Friends may greet the family on Sunday 6-9pm and Monday 9-10am in Calvary Hill Assembly of God Church, 535 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Funeral service will be Monday at 10am.
