Charles E. Mitchell, age 89, passed away on March 31st, 2014, at Pitman Manor where he has been a resident the past several years. Charles was born and raised in Clinton, NJ. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1943. He served in the US ARMY stationed in England during WWII. He graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Rider College in 1950. He worked as a store manager for the F.W. Woolworth Co. retiring after 38 years. Charles met his wife Jessie while working at the Haddonfield Woolworth. They were married May 31st 1952 in the Haddonfield Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and father. They lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey and retired to Cape Cod Massachusetts. They returned to NJ in March 2010 were they resided at Pitman Manor. While living in Virginia he was an active member of the United Methodist Church, the chamber of commerce, and the Rotary Club. He was also involved with the boy scouts and various other civic organizations in many of the communities he lived in. He is survived by his Sons Charles Jr. (Ellen) of Willingboro NJ, Alan (Patricia) of Pitman, NJ. Grandson Charles, step grandchildren Stephanie and Justin. His sisters Geraldine and Arlene. Predeceased by his wife Jessoline, his sister Mildred and his brothers, Harry and Herman. Services are private.
