Obituary of Joseph Jerome DiTaranto

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph J. DiTaranto, age 59, of Glassboro, NJ passed away on January 25, 2024 at home. Joe graduated valedictorian from Glassboro High School in 1983 and matriculated to the University of Miami, Florida, on scholarship as a double major in Music Merchandising (business) and Studio Music and Jazz (performance). Since graduating in 1987 with Honors, Joe has performed professionally and/or recorded with various musicians, jazz artists and Latin artists, playing with a variety of ensembles including the South Florida Symphony, big bands, classical quartets, small jazz ensembles, trombone choirs, pit orchestras, and club/wedding bands performing in a variety of arenas, including the Orange Bowl, cruise ships, ballets, gubernatorial balls, Latin festivals, and casinos. Although music has played an integral role throughout Joe's life, following college, Joe attended Widner University School of Law, graduating in 1991. Jos practiced law for 28 years and thereafter retired from the practice of law. Joe is survived by his parents, Joe and Shirley and his two children Hope and Emily. Joe is especially thankful and blessed to have had such wonderful, caring, giving and loving parents and will forever love and miss them. As for Hope and Emily, Joe has always maintained they have and will continue to be his greatest accomplishments, possessing more talent and brains then he could have ever hoped to possess. Joe wants, more than anything, for his children to know that they are so much more than enough and that they have and will always be deeply loved forever. Following a divorce after approximately 25 years of marriage, Joe was blessed with the privilege of again finding love and companionship with Donna Petrilli. Not only has Donna shared herself with him but has also shared the love of her family with him and his parents for which he has and will forever be grateful. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 9-10:30am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ followed by Words of Remembrance from 10:30-10:45am. Funeral mass will be at 11am in Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, f/k/a Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 500 Greentree Rd, Glassboro, NJ. Interment St. Bridget's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Joe has requested that donation be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, for pancreatic cancer research or trials at Fox Chase Cancer Center Hospital and Medical Center, 604 Cottman Ave, Cheltenham, PA. 19012.
