Obituary of Alexander George Hofmann

Alexander G. Hofmann, 93, died at his home in Richwood on June 25. He was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Paulsboro to Alexander J. and Ethel Porter Hofmann. Alex was a graduate of Paulsboro High School and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Drexel Institute of Technology. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, he met and married Mildred Sheppard, his wife of nearly 64 years, who survives him. Alex was a resident of Richwood since 1958. He retired from Mobil Oil in 1981 after more than 40 years' service. He was active in the Boy Scouts and Odd Fellows. In addition to his beloved wife, Alex is survived by his children Mark (Laurie) of North Potomac, Md. and Margaret (Michael) Wint of Grand Rapids, Mich. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Heidi Wint of Richwood, Tim (Aly) Wint of Albemarle, N.C. and Sarah Hofmann of Arlington, Va. and his great grandson Dominic Alexander Wint. Alex was predeceased by his parents and his brother Harold. Friends may greet the family on Monday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am.
