Obituary of William Gould

William "Bill" F. Gould, Jr., of Stuart, FL, (previously of Pitman, NJ) passed away peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the age of 79. His daughter, Karen, and his girlfriend of 13 years, Barbara J. (Westcott) Tomlinson, were at his side. Born in Yonkers in 1934 to William F. Gould, Sr., and Dorothy F. (Gose) Gould, Bill moved to Pitman as a child. He graduated from Pitman High School in 1952 and went on to attend Lafayette College before serving in the Army with posts in Aberdeen and White Sands Proving Grounds. A lifelong Pitmanite, Bill took over the family business, Gould Laboratories, in 1965 and continued his father's work to design, engineer and manufacture specialty parts for space, aeronautics, educational/research institutions, and industrial clients, including: NASA, General Electric, Pioneer Parachutes, NAO, Rutgers University and others. Survived by daughter Georgiana R. Gould of Philadelphia; daughter Karen F. (Gould) Leach , son-in-law Ryan F. Leach, and granddaughter Sophia of Stuart; sister Louise E. (Gould) McFarland; nephews William R. and Robert W. McFarland; and nephews Geoffrey, Russell and Richard Bohner. Predeceased by wife Georgiana J. and parents William and Dorothy. Bill's life will be remembered and celebrated in both Florida and New Jersey. Friends and family are invited to attend. The Gould family requests that donations be made to charities in lieu of flowers. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 12 to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1pm in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ.
