Obituary of William Ralph Albers

William Ralph Albers, age 87, died on October 31, 2014 at his home in Pitman. Born in Woodbury on September 15, 1927 to the late John and Florence Albers, he was a life long resident of Pitman. Bill was a graduate of Pitman High School in 1945. He served in the US Army from 1946-1948. Bill was a second generation owner and operator of Pitman Electric Service until his retirement in 1995. He joined Pitman Fire Co. #1 in 1951, was Chief from 1963-1967, and served as Borough of Pitman Fire Chief from 1968-1974. Bill was the Gloucester County Fire Marshall from1976-1983, a fire service commitment of 64 years. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Parry), son Robert (Karen) of Pitman, daughter Patricia (Hal) Wittmeyer of Inlet, NY, grandchildren Brian, Kevin, Lisa, Cindy and great grandchildren Christian, Sophia, Rylie, and Alivia. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
