Obituary of John Robert Borrell

John R. Borrell, age 59 years, died November 2 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 36 years,Nancy (nee Bender), son Johnny, and father Frank. He was predeceased by his mother Theresa Selvaggio. John was a PGA Golf Professional for 36 years and a Life Member of the PGA of America. John devoted his life to the game of golf. He lived most of his life in South Florida and most recently the Dominican Republic where he was the Director of Golf at Santo Domingo Country Club and Director of Golf at Punta Espada Golf Club at Cap Cana and Dorado Beach Resort where he was the Director of Instruction for the PGA Tour Academy. John was not only a well known golf instructor but was also an accomplished player having played in 12 PGA Tour events and won many PGA Club Pro tournaments. John loved to travel, eat and loved his family and his dogs. His best days were spent on the golf course with his son where they worked and played together. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the John Borrell Memorial Golf Tournament with proceeds going to benefit Junior Golf.
