Obituary of Robert E. Zimmerman, Jr.

Robert E. Zimmerman, Jr. age 87 died on October 16, 2012. Robert lived in Glassboro most of his life. He attended Glassboro High School and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy. Robert was a World War II Navy Veteran and served on the USS Starlight from 1943-1945. He attended Glassboro State College and received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Michigan State University. He worked as an Operations Manager in his family's lumber business, Fred Kiene Inc. Robert served on the Board of Directors for First National Bank and later First Union Bank of Glassboro, the Glassboro School Board and was past president of Glassboro Rotary. He also worked as the General Manager of National Fruit, Glassboro. Robert enjoyed playing golf, fishing, traveling and model trains. He loved his family above all else. Survived by his wife of 52 years Dolores (nee Kiene), children Robert T. (Diane) of Mantua, Lori (Michael) Shiles of Sewell, grandchildren Robert Garrett, Rachael Garrett, Brittany Zimmerman, Ashley Zimmerman and sister Dorothy Snively of Sewell. Friends may greet the family on Friday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
