Obituary of Carey Ann Plourde

Carey Plourde (nee Ward), 46 of Galloway Twp died suddenly on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The daughter of Thomas and Nancy Ward, Carey grew up in Pitman but lived at the Jersey Shore for all of her adult life. She was a professional food server and worked at many of the finest restaurants in Atlantic City and the surrounding area. Most recently, she was studying to be a medical assistant. Carey was a warm and generous woman with a quick wit and a ready smile. She was devoted to her family, especially her daughter, Colette, with whom she enjoyed an especially close and loving relationship. She had a great appreciation for the natural world and, with her family, spent many hours observing American bald eagles in refuge habitats in the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Reserve, one of her favorite places. She was an accomplished baker and never arrived without a home made treat for her host. She was smart and kind and tolerant and funny. She will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents and daughter, Carey is survived by her sister Janice Ward Headley, brother Thomas F. Ward (Amanda), aunt Margaret J. Blanck, nephew Samuel W. Headley and niece Claire M. Headley. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, December 13, after 10am in Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish (Our Lady Queen of Peace), 161 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ.
