Obituary of Alice M. Haines

Alice Marie Haines (Hand) born Aug 1, 1931 in Berlin, NJ died peacefully, Dec. 24, 2014 with her family by her side. Alice and her brother Freddy grew up in Stratford, NJ. It was Alice's many loving Aunts and Uncles from Paschal Ave, Philadelphia that nicknamed her "Snooks". Alice went to Haddon Heights High School where she was a cheerleader. At age 15, while roller skating, Alice met Bill, "The love of her life". They married in 1951 and had three children. Alice resided most of her adult life in Hurffville, NJ where she loved being a mother and housewife, enjoyed gardening and animals, and family vacations at the Jersey Shore. As the children grew, Alice proudly worked for the family business at The Haines' Dairy Bar. As a waitress and cashier, Alice enjoyed seeing and working with the community, especially the local high school students. Besides the beach, Alice loved traveling with her husband Bill, taking ski trips with friends, watching all the events her children and grandchildren participated in over the years and making fond memories with the family around the dining room table, especially, during the holidays. The last two years of her life, Alice was living and compassionately taken care of by The Pitman Manor. Predeceased by her husband Bill Haines. Alice is survived by her children Bill (JoAnne) of Shippensburg, PA, Judy (Dan) of Salida, CO, Tom (Christine) of Pitman, NJ, brother Fred (Alice) Hand of Mt. View, MO, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Hillcrest Mausoleum.
