Obituary of John S. Rosebery

John S. Rosebery Jr., 82, of Sewell, NJ, and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away at home on March 8th, 2013. John grew up in Pleasantville, NJ and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1949. After high school, he attended the University of Delaware where he received a BA degree. He continued his education and received a Master's Degree from Rutgers University in 1960. During that time, John also enlisted in the US Army Reserves, and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. John went on to dedicate the next 32 years to the field of education. He held many positions that ranged from a middle school teacher in Mays Landing, and a high school teacher in Ocean City. He then moved on to administrative positions that included an Assistant Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent positions at Mainland Regional High School, Principal at Pitman High School, and finally retired as the Superintendent at the Laurel Springs School District. In his spare time, John enjoyed traveling and camping with his family, playing golf, and spending winters in Florida. During his retirement years, he has had a passion for radio controlled boats and planes of all types, and could routinely be found spending time with fellow modelers at the lakes or RC flying fields. John is preceded in death by his parents, John S. Sr. and Dorothy Rosebery, of Pleasantville, NJ. John is survived by his spouse of 55 years Meta; four children; Mike of Pitman, NJ, Susan Camlin of Simpsonville, SC, Mark of Medford, NJ, and Lynne of Pitman, NJ; grandchildren Ryan, Jared, and Lauren Camlin, and Jonathan and Amanda Rosebery; and a great-grandchild, Bryce Camlin. A memorial service will be held at the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Avenue, Pitman, NJ at 8:00 pm on March, 18th, 2013. The family will be meeting friends and relatives at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the not-for-profit caregivers at Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Marlton, NJ 08053.
