Joseph Henry Doble, Sr., age 79, a proud kidney transplant receiver of 14 years, went home to our Lord on April 13, 2012. He was born, married, and raised his family in Pitman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Nancy (nee Brooks), children Linda (Don) Castillo of Hummelstown, PA, Joseph H. Jr. of Pitman, Susan (Rodney) Doble Voss of Pitman, sister Nina Wolfe of Pompano Beach, FL, brother Chester (Donna) Doble of Vineland, grandchildren Lauren Evans, Brian Dell, Brent White, Dustin White, Caitlyn Stafford and great granddaughter Madison Evans. Joseph was a graduate of Pitman High School, class of 1951 and Rutgers University, 1961. He served in the US Army from 1953-1954 during the Korean War. Joseph spent his banking career at Farmers National Bank of Mullica Hill starting as a cashier and retiring 42 years later as President and CEO. During this time, Joseph also served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed his career thus serving on the Gloucester County Bankers Association for many years and was President in 1971. He also served as a Director and was on the Executive Committee for the NJ Bankers Association. In addition, he was on the Community Bank Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. One of his most memorable professional experiences was being held hostage during an attempted bank robbery where the FBI sent a helicopter with an agent to negotiate hostage release. Joseph was a member and former President of the Pitman Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, member of the Richwood Independent Order of Odd Fellows- French Lodge No. 89 and the Pitman United Methodist Church. He was an enthusiastic 20 year season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Phillies and one of their biggest fans. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, April 19,2012 after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
