Obituary of Sara Meves Godman

Sara Godman (nee Meves), quietly passed away Sunday July 15th after a brief illness. Sara was a graduate of Pitman High School and resident of Wenonah NJ. Married for 65 years to her high school sweetheart, Robert Godman, Capt.US Navy, deceased, she traveled with her family to numerous ports of call on the East and West coasts. Sara was an avid athlete and competitor. She was a champion high diver and field hockey player for Pitman High School and an exceptional golfer who achieved 6 aces in her long golfing career which ended when Sara was 88. Sara was the last surviving daughter of the five Meves girls born to Frank and Helen Meves of Pitman NJ. Her three children, Karan, Robert, Eileen, grandson, Fletcher Meisenburg, and numerous nieces and nephews, survive her. A life celebration and memorial service will be held on July 26, 2012. Visitation with the family at 7:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at The Kelley Funeral Home in Pitman NJ. A gathering of friends and family will be held after the services at the Home of Sara's daughter Eileen Godman. Sara will be interned with her husband, Robert, at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
