Obituary of Helen D. Armstrong

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen (Jean) Duncan Armstrong, born March 19, 1932 dearest mother, grandmother and devoted friend of many, has found peace and eternal life on June 3, 2013. She was born in Butler, PA and graduated from Butler High School, Grove City College and Rowan University with a Master's Degree and earned many advanced certifications in education. She taught 20 plus years at Glassboro High School and was the Department Head of Special Education. She was honored as Teacher of the Year by the State of New Jersey. Her passion for teaching touched many as she was devoted to providing the best education to all she had in her classes. Her love for music overflowed as she played the organ and piano at the church she attended and at churches in the local community. She retired to Townsends Inlet, NJ in 1994 and continued to be active in PEO Chapter AQ, Garden Club, Questors, AARP and Red Hat Society. She had a bright spark of love that was filled with family, travel, cooking and visiting tea rooms. Her perky spirit and splendid sense of humor radiated in conversations and giving to others in need. Throughout her life she exemplified and lived the golden rule. She will be reunited with her dear husband, Dr. Robert K. Armstrong of 39 years and leaves a beautiful legacy to her three sons, Robert K. Armstrong, Jr. and his wife Sheila, George D. Armstrong, Bruce B. Armstrong, one granddaughter and three grandsons. In Helen's wishes there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PEO Chapter AQ (which provides improvement projects for women), 24 West Atlantic Ave, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 or Grove City College, Advancement Office, 100 Campus Dr., Grove City, PA 16127. Tributes greatly appreciated at www.kelleyfhpitman.com.
