John A. "Jack" McEnery, age 77 was called home on May 13, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. Raised in Elmer, NJ, Jack moved to Pitman in 1968. He started with the Pitman Police Department in 1966. He became Captain in 1972 and served Chief of Pitman Police Department from 1988 until his retirement in 1992. After retirement from the Pitman Police Department, Jack worked as a driver for Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist over 10 years. He was a member of Highland Chemical Engine Company, trustee for the Gloucester County Hero Scholarship Fund, founding member of the Gloucester County Emerald Society and life member of Gloucester County PBA #122. Jack was also a founding member of the Gloucester County Police Museum and the Gloucester County Police K-9 Assn.
Survived by his children Jill (Greg) Reagle, John "Jack" Jr. (Michele), Michael (Tina), grandchildren Garrett and Ally Reagle, Seann, Emily and Erin McEnery and Michael Patrick, Caiden and Brycen McEnery and his longtime companion Cynthia Clark. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Raelyn McEnery and sister Eileen Martino.
Friends may greet the family on Thursday 6-9pm and Friday after 10am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be Friday at 11am. Interment Olivet Cemetery.
