Obituary of Joan D. McQuillan

Joan (nee Doughty) McQuillan Jr. 87 It is with great sadness that the family of Joan McQuillan announces her passing surrounded by her loving family on July 20, 2018 in Pitman NJ. She was a long time resident of Medford Lakes NJ. Joan was born in Woodbury, NJ to Richard and Frances (Evans) Doughty. She graduated from Chatham High School in 1948 and went on to attend Hood College. While working at Camden Trust Co. Joan met and eventually married William J. McQuillan Jr. in 1955. She was a mother and homemaker to her five children. After all her children entered high school, she began using her skills in the workforce. At the time of her retirement, she worked for a local Realtor. Joan volunteered many years with the Girl Scouts in Medford Lakes. She enjoyed her family vacations to the Outer Banks, family gatherings, relaxing in the porch with a crossword puzzle and working in her gardens. Her husband of 63 years passed away in 2018. Joan is survived by her loving children Susan, Thomas (Geri), Nancy (Steve), Wendy (Mark) and William III (Juliet). Joan will be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren Brad, Kelly, Jason, Megan, Chris, Ian, Eleanor and her three great grandchildren Ashley, Michael and Amelia. A celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday July 28, 10am at Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Avenue, Pitman, NJ. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am with a memorial service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery (Bethel Cemetery) in Hurffville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to : the American Cancer Society or United Methodist Communities: Pitman , Resident Activities Fund.
