Obituary of Ralph J. Shipley

Ralph Joseph Shipley, age 79, of Pitman, NJ, died on January 9, 2019 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Vineland, NJ. Ralph attended Glassboro High School and served in the US Marine Corp. from 1957-1960. He worked on the Security Force for Mobil Oil in Paulsboro, retiring in 1995. As a member of the Wenonah Marine Corps League, Semper Fi Detachment, he served as Sergeant of Arms, on the Scholarship Rose Program, and was a member of the Honor Guard serving on many funerals over the years and was a representative for Eagle Scout ceremonies. He was a member of the Red Horsemen for Mobil Oil and member of St. Bridget's Church in Glassboro. Ralph was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking, and was a 1940 Ford classic car buff. Survived by his wife of 57 years Annadora M. (nee Francis), children; Ralph Jr., Brian, Jill (Jonathan) Putt, loving Pop to Evan, Ryan, Delaney and Kylie, and brother in law to Nellie Shipley. Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 18 from 7-9pm and Saturday, January 19 from 9:30-10:15am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish), 161 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Interment private in Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Bridget's Church, 125 Church St, Glassboro, NJ 08028 or the Veteran's Memorial Home, 524 NW Blvd, Vineland, NJ 08360.
