Obituary of Mary Jayne Gallagher

Please share a memory of Mary Jayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With great sadness, the family of Mary Jayne Gallagher (Barats) announces her passing on May 20, 2020 at age 78. She went to join her husband, John, who was recently deceased after 49 years of marriage. Mary Jayne grew up in Bensalem, PA, and raised her family on 68th Street in southwest Philadelphia, before moving to Franklinville, NJ following her retirement from the Philadelphia International Airport. She was an active member of the community, as a block captain, an officer in the Saint Barnabas CYO, and a member of the Philadelphia recreation advisory council at Finnegan playground. She loved horses, puzzles, bowling, and spending time in her award winning garden. Her home was always open to anyone in need. She is survived by her dear brother, Michael Barats, having been preceded in death by 9 of her siblings, including her sister Eleanor with whom she was especially close. She will be sadly missed by her children: Richard Booth, James (Rose Marie), Edward (Theresa), and Mary Jayne (Jerry), and her nephews, William and Thomas Barats, to whom she was legal guardian. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. There are countless others whose lives she touched, especially Kurt Von Colln, who will miss her motherly presence. A memorial service will be held at a later date. At this time, the family asks that in lieu of flowers or donations, please honor her life and legacy by spoiling the children and grandchildren in your life.
