Obituary of Alex D. Shalaway

Alex D. Shalaway, age 75, died on January 19, 2021. Born and raised in Boyertown, PA, Alex graduated from Boyertown High School in 1962. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1966 in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware where he played football and was a member and President of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Alex and his wife eventually moved and settled in Pitman where they raised their family. Alex began his career at Air Products. He started working at Harrington Robb where he became partner and eventually owner. Alex was a member and financial secretary of St. James Lutheran Church in Pitman. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball in the early 1980's. Alex retired to Avalon in 2002. During his retirement in Avalon, Alex became active in the Avalon Lions Club where he was financial secretary. Survived by his wife of 53 years Jane L. (nee Mest), children Stacey L. Hall, Jeffrey A. (Jennifer) Shalaway, grandchildren Zachary and Madison Shalaway, Samantha Hall., brothers Michael (Linda) Shalaway, Scott (Linda) Shalaway, S. David (Carol) Shalaway and 7 nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family on Saturday after 9:30am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Memorial service will be at 11am.
