Mary Elizabeth (Lorenz) Mellish, 89, a 59 year resident of Pitman, NJ passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021 while surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Brady's Bend, PA on October 17, 1931. She was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (McClaine) Lorenz.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister Agnes, who died in infancy and her sister Dolores (Rich) Nicol of Titusville, PA. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 67 years David, four children Dr. David (Shirley) Mellish of Williamstown, NJ; Greg (Joanne) Mellish of St. Augustine, FL; Mary (Mike) McDannell of Roswell, GA; and Joan (Stan) Ritter of Glassboro, NJ; 12 wonderful grandchildren, Chris, Jeff, Kevin and Jennifer Mellish, Shannon Mellish; Jenna, Ryan and Adam McDannell; Allison, Megan, Andrew and Connor Ritter; sister Mildred (Sam) Patsy of Sykesville, MD, brother John (his late wife Pat) Lorenz of Butler, PA; four great grandchildren Nariah, Nyah, Nikolai, Nevaeh and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mary's greatest joy by far was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing scrabble, reading, traveling, movies and church. She was a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Pitman, NJ and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She worked in the library of Elwood Kindle School in the Pitman school district.
Due to COVID-19, Mass and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
