Obituary of Jay Dee Tregellas

Jay Dee Tregellas, age 88, died on January 31, 2023. Born and raised in Frackville, PA, Jay graduated from Frackville High School where he was an exceptional student athlete. He received his Bachelor's Degree from East Stroudsburg College, Master's Degree from Seton Hall University and his Specialist in Education Degree from Rutgers University. He began his career in education at Quincy High School in Pennsylvania, then moved to South Plainfield High School in New Jersey. He became Vice Principal at Williamstown High School before settling at GCIT, where he was the first principal and eventually retired as the Assistant Superintendent. Jay was also an avid golfer, bowler, and fisherman. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and supporting all of their interests. He was a former member of St. John's United Methodist Church and member of Richwood United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Williamstown Masonic Lodge #166. Jay was predeceased by his parents Dorothy (Burley) and Jay Tregellas, brother Thomas, and daughter Kristin McIlvaine. Survived by his wife of 61 years Nancy (Yocum), daughter Cheryl (Robert) Albertson, son in law Michael McIlvaine, grandchildren Kaitlyn (Wyatt) Jones, Michael McIlvaine Jr., Rachel Albertson, Robert J. Albertson, great granddaughter Ava Jones, sisters Catherine (Eugene) Dymacek, Linda Tregellas, brother in law John (Donna) Yocum and many nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family 10am-12pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in Richwood United Methodist Church, 104 Richwood Rd., Mullica Hill 08062. Funeral service will be at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Richwood United Methodist Church.
